by Administrator

November 5, 2009 – 7:12 am

If you live in Florida and are in the market for a Motorola DROID cell phone, tomorrow is your lucky day.

Verizon Wireless has opened its doors at its Florida locations starting at 7:00am today in anticipation of huge interest.

“There has been great anticipation for the DROID in the tech community because of its many technological advances, which general consumers will enjoy as well,” said Pam Tope, Verizon Wireless spokesman . “The DROID launch is big news with techies and it also should be the first big shopping salvo and hot product of the upcoming holiday season.”

If you aren’t one of the shoppers to hit the stores on Friday, you can always go in later and learn more about Android(TM) 2.0, the new SmartPhone O/S.

The cost for the DROID phone is $199.99 when you agree to a two-year customer agreement and send in your $100 mail-in rebate. The rebate comes in the form of a debit card you get upon paying. Once you have the debit card you can use it anywhere debit cards are accepted.

iPhone Apps From Wizzard Media Announced

by Administrator

November 5, 2009 – 9:07 am

Wizzard Media, which is billed as the ‘world’s largest podcasting network’ has announced 24 new iPhone apps. The apps, which include Investors Business Daily Editorials and Alaska HDTV, will be available for sale in the popular Apple iPhone App Store. These offerings from Wizzard Media will be sold for an average price of $1.99 each.

These new Apps are iPhone companion Apps for popular podcasts offered currently on the Wizzard Media Network. Once installed on an iPhone, these apps will offer audiences one-click access to the podcast on either their iPod Touch or iPhone.

The App market is currently valued at $1 billion, with sales projections indicating volume of $4 billion by 2012.

“We think our podcast companion App initiative is a game changer for the podcasting industry. We believe the next great opportunity on the web for media is the seamless combination of three trends – publishing services, advertising and micropayments for App sales,” says Dave Mansueto, co-founder Wizzard Media. “Now, podcasting becomes a platform that converts audiences to revenue,
accelerated by the micropayment billing process that Apple has created with the App store. We believe this new process is the model for how digital media is published, audiences are grown and revenues derived.”

Wizzard Media currently has launched 70 iPhone Apps in the last 90 days.

Motorola Droid Cell Phone Reviews Coming In

by Administrator

November 13, 2009 – 7:16 am

There’s no question that Motorola has needed a new hit cell phone for the last several years. The company, which is a pioneer in the cell phone market, had a string of high profiles failure that left it lagging behind the competition. Now they’re hoping that their new Droid phones will help get consumers back into buying their phones.

The reviews are coming in concerning the Droid. David Haskin, of ComputerWorld thinks the phone is a great buy at $200.

“My conclusion: My iPhone lust has been sated. The Droid, which costs about $200 after rebates and a two-year contract with Verizon, is superlative. On the whole, it is as carefully designed, useful and fun to use as an iPhone. At last,” he wrote.

He praises the functionality of the Google Android 2.0 and thinks the phone will be a big hit.

The L.A. Times says the Droid is the best phone Verizon is offering.

“Yet, as a phone, the Droid is top-notch. It integrates seamlessly with Google Voice and runs on Verizon, a telecom with a superior reputation for reliable call coverage — unlike AT&T, the exclusive carrier of the iPhone,” they wrote.

The reviews are still coming in. Some are not so satisfied, but overall, you get the sense that people are very impressed with the Motorola phone running the Android 2.0 O/S. This has to be music to the ears of Motorola executives every where.

Confirmed: HTC Legend launching on Bell June 16th

We’ve been covering the HTC Legend for sometime – this is coming to both Bell and Virgin. Thanks to our Bell tipsters who let us know the official launch date has been set for June 16th.

In the internal document that we received it states that “The HTC Legend is one of the most anticipated Android smartphones. From a hardware perspective, its form factor has captured the attention and praises of the press with its sleek aluminium unibody design, vibrant 3.2” AMOLED capacitive touchscreen and brushed metallic finish. The design is certainly one-of-a-kind, conveys a confident message of class and feels expensive yet solid in your hands… The user also benefits from the same features offered to any other Android users out there. Legend comes with Android 2.1 out-of-the-box, the latest and greatest version of Google’s mobile platform with a range of updates including a revamped Android Market, improved virtual keyboard, support for more apps from the Market and more”

In addition, it looks like Bell is targeting this device to go head-to-head with the Rogers Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and the Telus HTC Hero. They have broken down the specs and features and compared it to each device. Pricing is set to be $79.95 on a 3-year contract, $249.95 on a 2-year; $349.95 on a 1-year and $399.95 no contract.

Rumor: New OTA Going Out to Nexus One

A few sources are reporting that a new OTA update is starting to roll out to Nexus One owners. From what we can tell, the report orginates with Sizzled Core, who include the screenshot seen here. The build number, FRF72, indicates a Froyo build subsequent to FRF50, the pre-release Froyo build that was OTA'd to a small number of Nexus Ones recently.

The OTA is reportedly only 1.8 Mb, and so would presumably be an incremental update to those who already received FRF50. Sizzled Core reports that the changelog mentions only updates to the browser, including better Flash support.

The skeptical folks at XDA-developers note that this screenshot could be faked fairly easily, but also point out a Google employee who tweeted about receiving a Froyo update today.

What do you think? Real or not? Presumably we'll know more soon.

Update: We've not seen reports of Nexus One owners receiving this update since this post went up, leading us to conclude that either this rumor is entirely false, or that FRF72 is an internal QA build not being distributed OTA.

Update 2: We've seen several Google employees make reference to getting a Nexus One Froyo update, in some cases even referencing FRF72 as the build number. Looks like this is a real build going out OTA but only internally to Google employees for now.

Samsung Galaxy 5 is an Android Powered Corby

These are the live pics of Samsung's upcoming smart phone, Galaxy 5. The Android 2.1 based smart phone from the Korean giant was showcased at the Google I/O conference. As you can see in the pics the phone is Google branded on the back side.Though the phone runs on Android, Samsung has taken some efforts to customize the UI of the phone, most probable their own Touch Wiz technology. The 200 Euro phone will have QVGA TFT Capacitive display, Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, 2MP camera and microSD slot. Going by the specs, i guess this phone will be cheap and when it comes to India will sell well.It looks exactly like the Samsung Corby, which is already pretty famous in India among young mobile users.

Nokia's Kinetic Energy Powered Green Core Phone

Eco-friendly green concept phones is not some thing new to Nokia. They have come with many cush concept phones before. This time, Nokia has come with a green concept phone with a twist. The phone works on kinetic energy and has been designed by a British designer, Matteo Trisolini. You can spin the phone around your fingers just like a keychain and the phone gets charged..ain't it cool?? Named as the EC-509 Green Core phone, it comes with recyclable PET screen cover, LED Battery indication and other eco-friendly and bio-degradable materials are used in the making of this phone. Wynn Telecom to Set-Up Manufacturing Facility in India

These days the Indian mobile phone market is flooded with non-branded mobile phone OEMs like Lava Mobile, Karbon Mobile, microMax mobile etc. These companies are giving the big guys a run for their money because of their feature rich phones that are available with a low price tag. Initially people use to get China made mobile phones but after the DoT went after them, the target market of Chinese phones have changed their preference and are buying phones from these guys, which are cheap, feature rich, look cool, have valid IMEI numbers and DoT does not ban them LOL!! Now one more OEM, Wynn Telecom is jumping into this game and has set-up up a brand expansion, supply chain and manufacturing budget of USD 107 million for the Indian market. This India based manufacturer currently has a manufacturing facility in Shenzen, China from where they import their handsets. There new facility will be based in Himachal Pradesh and will churn out 1.2 million handsets every month. If you see most of the small time mobile OEMs mentioned above are doing well as they have also been sponsoring big cricketing and other sports events in India.

Its Called iPhone 4 With 5MP Camera and HD Video Recording

Apple finally unveiled the 4th generation iPhone yesterday at the WWDC. The iPhone that was launched was same as its leaked self. As you can see that the whole iPHone is redesigned and Apple will be rolling out this phone all over the world soon. This time Apple is not wasting any time with its global roll out plan as it wants to tackle competition that it is getting from Google's Android based phones and Blackberries. Coming back to the iPhone, the most notable features of the 4th generation iPhone are HD video recording, 5 megapixel camera, Facetime, iMovie,Retina Display with a high quality screen, better battery life, video chatting over a Wi-Fi network and gyroscope for better gaming. I was expecting something like a gyroscope or something that will enhance the gaming powers of the iPhone as Steve Jobs always focused on on iPhone and iPod touch as gaming and Internet browsing devices. The phone will reach 5 countries by June 24th and to 88 in September. One more highlight of the 4th Generation iPhone is that it will run on iPhone OS 4 with multitasking support. Check out the Video below,

Vodafone Confirms Arrival of iPhone 4 in India

iPhone 4, which was launched recently at the WWDC 2010 by Apple will be hitting the Indian shores in the month of September. This announcement came from Vodafone, I am sure it will also come on AirTel but there is no official announcement from AirTel. Apple had announced that iPhone 4 will hit 88 countries in the month of September but didn't specify if India will be a part of that list. The official statement from Vodafone has confirmed it now. However, there is no official statement on what the pricing will be for the 2010 version of the iPhone in India. Like always it will fall in the bracket of phones that carry a price tag same as that of Laptops these days. Given the pricing of iPhone 3GS, the iPhone 4 will cost more that 35,000 INR.

Nokia's Leaked Roadmap SHows N9, E7, X7 and an entirely new Series

It seems Nokia has now decided to take on its competition i.e. Apple's iPhone and Blackberry smart phones head on cause the company is preparing for a line-up of new smart phones and an entirely new series. Nokia's leaked road map is the proof of that. The leaked road map which appeared on Engadget, shows that Nokia will soon be launching Nokia N9, E7 and X7. If you see the image closely, Nokia's N8 and N9 are sitting on the top and Nokia N9 will most probably based on the MeeGo platform. MeeGo is the combination of Intel's Linux and Nokia's Maemo platform. However in the same image, you can see that there is a block with the letter written "S" in it above the Nokia N8 and N9 triangle on the top right corner. This seems to some new kind of Series that Nokia is planning to come up with in future and I guess it will be more high-end as compared to Nokia N8 and N9.
