Google pulls an Apple adding 2 Android market apps

Google helped a developer to remove the two applications from the Android market. The two apps, created by a security expert for research purposes, download user in you fool. The expert removes the apps and the Android team called to complete the remote application remove function on the app to clean-up. Removing apps from Android market is relatively rare, while Apple's APP store seems to be culled a regular basis.

Google's Android team has facilitated the removal of two free applications from Android market, citing violations of your developer terms.

Android security lead rich Stratford said 24 June team Android be used's remote application remove function, two applications, expert for research purposes to entfernen.Im creates a security essential applications duped users in download although they were of minor importance.

"These applications deliberately wrong its purpose to users but to promote downloads were not designed to malicious uses, and have access to private data - or system resources about permission.INTERNET, do not have permission" Stratford wrote.

"The applications were practically useless, uninstalled most users applications shortly after download."

He added that during the researchers voluntarily these applications from Android market removed the Android team the remote application remove function, a so-called kill switch, the other installed copies cleanup completed called.

This kill switch was created to the Android team quickly remove applications are malicious and a threat to consumers of Android smartphones, tablets and other devices to helfen.Kunden receive a notification by the Android team when the kill switch is used.

There are currently 65,000 applications on the Android market run on about 60 Android-enabled smartphones.

Removing applications from the market is relatively rare in comparison with Apple's APP store, as some of the leading mobile application store's 225,000 applications seem remove shop on a regular basis.

The reason is usually, because the contents of perverse sexual nature, the Apple APP store of PG-rated rules missachtet.Nicht always, obwohl.Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Mark Fiore saw his NewToons exiled public figures from the app store for mockery.

Moves to the light over the developers whose applications using Board was thrown haben.Solche are often situations often full of tension, because the application developers who invested time and effort in the development for Apple or Android feel cheated.

So, announce why then, the Android team of that step? maybe it was the last negative impression that there are applications to places of refuge for malware Android: security vendor SMobile Systems has published a report (PDF), which means that a large number of Android applications are malicious.

SMobile report analyzes more than 48,000 Android market-applications and found that 20 per cent request access permission to confidential information that an attacker can be used for malicious purposes.

In an email to eWEEK's report said Google incorrectly implied that Android user control do not have the applications access your data.

"Not only any Android app must get user permission access to confidential information, but developer must also undergo billing background checks to confirm their real identities, and we are any apps that are found are disabled to malicious", Google said.

In any case, Stratford that Google has added a super kill switch that remove the capabilities of the remote application is says "where one disaster a dangerous application to prevent a fast and scalable way more exposure users could be removed from the active transport."

The point is that Google wants to believe users, it is serious about Android application security.
