Western Europe-mobile market grows, unprecedented growth in smartphones in 1Q10, IDC says dominated

The mobile phone market in Western Europe grew 8.1% to the previous year to 42.7 million units in the first quarter of 2010, according to IDC's European mobile phone Tracker. Shipments of smartphones increased in the quarter up 12 million pieces, 57% higher than in the first quarter of last year, represent 28% of total shipments. Traditional mobile phones (TMPs) 4% to the previous year to 30.7 million units, show the continuous trend to smartphones, rejected, IDC said.
